TL;DR — what GeoVeris does and doesn't do

✅ The app shows oil & gas wells and surface geology on a 3D globe.
✅ It can read your device's GPS location to center the map on you.
❌ It does not transmit your location to us or anyone else.
❌ It contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no third-party trackers.
❌ We do not collect, store, sell, or share any personal information.
❌ We do not use cookies, advertising IDs, or fingerprinting.
❌ There are no user accounts. There is nothing to log into.

1. Information GeoVeris does NOT collect

We have designed GeoVeris to function entirely on-device. The app does not collect, transmit, or store on a remote server any of the following:

Your name, email address, phone number, or any other contact information.
Your precise or approximate location, GPS coordinates, IP address, or network identifiers.
Your device identifiers (Android Advertising ID, IMEI, MAC, Android ID).
Any usage analytics, crash reports, telemetry, or behavioral data.
Any photos, files, contacts, calendar entries, or messages from your device.
Any payment, financial, or health information.

We have not embedded any third-party SDKs that perform any of the above on our behalf. The app contains no advertising network code.

2. Information GeoVeris uses LOCALLY (never transmitted)

GeoVeris uses the following on your device only. None of it leaves your device:

Map view state (last zoom / pan / layer toggles)	So the app re-opens to the same view.	App's local preferences storage on your device. Never transmitted.
Saved bookmarks (if you create them)	So you can return to a well or area you saved.	App's local SQLite database on your device. Never transmitted.

You can clear all of the above at any time through Android's "Storage > Clear data" for GeoVeris, or by uninstalling the app.

3. Permissions we request and why

Android permission	Required?	Used for
`ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION` / `ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION`	Optional	Centering the map on you and showing nearby wells. The app works fully without this — you'll just need to pan to your area manually.
`INTERNET`	Required at first launch only	To download the well-data and geology tile packs the first time you open the app. After that, the app functions fully offline.
`WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE` (scoped)	Optional	If you choose to export a map view as an image.

We do not request: contacts, microphone, camera, calendar, SMS, call logs, body sensors, accounts, or background location.

4. Network connections the app makes

GeoVeris connects to the public internet only to download static map data:

Tile and metadata bundles hosted by Epoch11 on a public CDN. These bundles are static files. No request body, query parameter, or header identifies you. Standard CDN access logs (IP + timestamp) may be retained by the CDN provider for the operational purposes of running a CDN, and we do not associate those logs with any user.

The app does not open any other network connection. It does not phone home, ping a license server, or post telemetry.

5. Children's privacy (COPPA)

GeoVeris is not directed at children under 13. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app contains no in-app purchases, no advertising, and no social features.

Because we do not collect personal data, most data-protection rights have nothing to attach to:

Right of access: We hold no data about you to disclose.
Right to deletion: Uninstall the app. That deletes every byte we caused to exist on your device. We hold nothing on a server to delete.
Right of portability: The map data the app uses is open data, freely downloadable from the original sources listed in our LICENSES document.
Right to opt out of "sale" of personal information (CCPA): We do not sell, share, or trade personal information. There is nothing to opt out of.

If you nevertheless want written confirmation that we hold no data about you, email privacy@epoch11.app and we will reply within 30 days.

7. Data security

We don't store your data, so we cannot lose it. The map and metadata bundles the app downloads are signed and verified at install time using standard Android Play Store mechanisms.

8. Changes to this policy

If we ever change what the app does in a way that affects this policy — for example, if a future version adds optional cloud sync — we will:

Post the updated policy at the same URL with a new "Effective date".
Maintain a public changelog at the bottom of this document.
For material changes, present an in-app notice on the next launch and require fresh consent before any new data practice begins.

We will never retroactively start collecting data without informing you and getting consent for that collection.
